St. John’s offers many opportunities for engagement. Parishioners are invited to actively participate in the various activities that resonate as part of our culture.
Hospitality is a hallmark of St. John’s. Throughout the year you are invited to share warmth and refreshment with others. Whether it is at coffee hour after church services or receptions, the food and fellowship help make any event more complete.
Events that St. John’s plans each year include the Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, Book Sale, Kringle Sales, and our Rummage Sale during the spring and fall. Check our Church Calendar tab for events coming up.
Our hall is available for rentals! Are you in need of space for a family event, birthday, shower, or corporate retreat? Does your group need a consistent place to meet (book club, support group, parents’ groups)? Contact the office for rental of our hall. We can also assist if you are in need of a baptism, funeral, or wedding.

- Hospitality Guild: Whether it’s Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings or some special parish event such as a baptism, birthday party, wedding, or funeral, the Hospitality Guild works hard to prepare a welcoming and comfortable environment for people to gather. If you’d like to be part of this Guild, we’d be happy to have you “join the crew!”
- Building & Grounds Crew: Do you like to do garden work? Are you handy with basic maintenance? We invite you to consider joining our Building & Grounds crew. Sharing tasks such as lawn maintenance, simple building maintenance, and semi-annual “Church Work Days” as well as helping with planting and maintaining the Celebration Garden, we believe that “many hands make light work.”
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: Do you like to knit or crochet? Do you like to make fleece blankets? This ministry is a “work at your own pace” group which creates beautiful lap robes and shawls for those who need the comfort of a prayerful hug. These items are created with love and prayer, and are blessed by clergy. They’re available to anyone who needs them.
- Daughters of the King: This group of women dedicate themselves to prayer, service, and evangelism (don’t let that word scare you!). To become a Daughter, a woman goes through an online discernment process to see if this is a good fit for her. She is then installed as a member of our Chapter. The Order of the Daughters of the King is an international group of women who take vows, and meet regularly to pray and study. The discernment starts in January and is 12 weeks long.
- Fundraising/Friend-raising: This committee works on special events to help raise funds and bring St. John’s out into the community. Do you have a flair for fundraising? Do you like to meet new people and help organize events? This may be the group for you! This group is the hub for our periodic Rummage Sales, Book Sales, and community gatherings, including Old Canal Days and other community outreach events.
