Tips and Tricks for Online Worship
Are you new to virtual worship? Want to enhance your experience? Take a moment to look through these tips.
Here are some ideas for getting the most out of online worship:
- Light a candle to give your worship experience a sense of centeredness
- Set up your space so that you have minimal distractions
- Take a few moments before the start of the service to quiet your breath and settle into prayerful silence
- Have your printed bulletin available, or have it called up on your tablet or computer
Worship: Online or on the Phone
Here at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in Lockport, the center of our faith life is our Worship. We are fully committed to bringing our “house of prayer for all people” to you.
Offering the option of Virtual Worship as well as in-person worship gives us an opportunity to be together on our phones, and on our computers if there is a reason you are unable to be with us in the church. It helps us to reach people who might not normally come to church on Sunday morning as well as members who would if they could.
This method of praying together helps us to remember that church is not only in a building. It is the people of God being present with each other all over the world.
All are welcome to take part in our services. We also invite you to submit prayer requests for yourself, those you love, and the world. Email them to office@stjohns-lockport-il.org.
Sunday Worship Schedule
10:30 AM Our Rite 2 service is in on Zoom and in-person. We pray, hear, and proclaim scripture and gather as the Body of Christ, participate in the breaking blessing and sharing of Holy Communion. Rite 2 includes music.
On the 2nd and 5th Sundays of the month, Morning Prayer (a lay-lead service) is offered, in-person and on Zoom.

- View the bulletin on your tablet or phone or print out to follow along. The links to the leaflets are sent out with our Sunday email reminder of the service and the Zoom link. They are also available in the pop-up on the home page of our website.

- You can offer prayers and exchange peace with others in the comments section
