St. John’s offers many opportunities for engagement. Parishioners are invited to actively participate in the various activities that resonate as part of our culture.
Hospitality is a hallmark of St. John’s. Throughout the year one is invited to share warmth and refreshment with others. Whether it is at coffee hour after church services or receptions the food and fellowship helps make any event more complete.
Events that St. John’s plans each year include the Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, Christmas and Valentine Cookie Sales, Kringle Sales and our Rummage Sale during the spring and fall. The Fall Rummage Sale has now been scheduled for October 21-22, 2016 from 8 AM – 2 PM.
How one can be involved in Parish Life at St. John’s?
• Hospitality Guild: Whether it is Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings, or some special parish event like a Baptism, wedding or funeral; the Hospitality committee works hard to prepare a welcoming and comfortable environment for people to be together. If you’re interested in helping with this ministry (there are a multitude of ways), please speak with Lillian Hensley.
• Youth Group: Fun and fellowship on the 3rd Sunday each month at 6:30 PM. For youth 6th grade and up. Contacts: Kim McElheny and Katherine Kresek.
• Prayer Shawl ministry comes together on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11:30 AM. Each knitted or crocheted piece is blessed and available in the church for anyone in need of God’s comfort and peace. All levels of talent welcome to join. Contact: Julia Matile.
